A Word From Our Executive Director - February 22, 2012 |
 This coming Sunday, February 26, 2012, is recognized by our denomination as Urban Ministries Sunday. We were reminded of this observance by Urban Ministries Consultants Lee and Caroline Welkley in our February 8, 2012, issue of the E-News. Below are four suggestions posed by our consultants, as we give thought to how we can become more connected with our inner-city congregations of North America.
1. On this Sunday during your morning worship services, take a few minutes to pray for our more than 35 urban churches.

Greetings to you and thank you for your continued support and prayers for our brothers and sisters in South East Asia who serve the Lord under the Advent Christian banner. Thank you also for your prayers for me for my surgery on February 7 for a total knee joint replacement in my right leg. The surgery was successful and after four days in hospital I am presently staying with my daughter and her family until I am sufficiently mobile to go back to my own home. |

Praise God from whom all blessings flow! It was indeed a God ordained, God orchestrated trip that as a family, Erwin, Shori and myself were able to visit and do the Lord’s work in Australia. It amazed us so much how the Lord provided everything we needed. |

IF Update - February 22, 2012 |

In the second chapter of the book we know as First Timothy, the apostle Paul gives these words to his young apostolic delegate, Timothy: “First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions and thanksgiving be made for all people” (1 Timothy 2:1, ESV). The apostle Paul knew how important the spiritual discipline of prayer was, not only the believer but for the church. He wanted and urged the church under Timothy’s care to pray for everyone and to pray in particular ways (requests, on behalf of and with thanks for). He wanted this to be done so the work of the kingdom of God could be advanced without problems through the church and the individual believer. |
