News From Around Our Churches - May 13, 2009 |
 FLORIDA
On Saturday, May 9, 2009, Pastor Bruce Arnold, of the Beachville Advent Christian Church, ran 11 miles for Penny Crusade. Bruce had challenged the church to pledge an amount per mile based on how far they thought he could run. He had planned on trying to run at least 10 miles and ended up running one extra. The church ladies prepared a delicious breakfast after the run. The total amount raised for the run will be more than $600, making the total Penny Crusade giving for Beachville more than $1,200 this year. Thanks to all who gave and also prayed for Bruce as he ran! Bruce's son, Jedidiah rode his bike the entire 11 miles, carrying a drink bottle so Dad could stay hydrated. Good job Jed - thanks! |

It was like digital photos floating through my mind. We were a dental team of eight: one dentist, his wife, a dental hygienist and five support workers returning from clinics in Mati, Cagayan de Oro and Claveria, on Mindanao Island in the Philippines. There they were, images flashing through the brain, one after the other: |

IF Update - May 13, 2009 |
By the time you read this week’s IF Team, our team will have been in Liberia for more than a week and well on our way to putting up the new church in Buchanan, Liberia.
Throughout this past week, we have not only worked physically but have been busy sharing the gospel message with our Liberian brothers and sisters. I was here once before and can still remember the warm reception as we experienced God’s presence in our midst. |

A Word From Our Executive Director - May 13, 2009 |
There are times when even the most joyous giver can wonder, "Is it worth giving at all?" Dawn Rutan, Director of Finance at ACGC, recently shared with me the following snippet written by Michael Parris. It was a powerful encouragement to me that we are on the right track – it is definitely worth giving!
Your brother,
Russell Carle
Coordinator of Stewardship and Tithing
”As an atheist, I truly believe Africa needs God” by Michael Parris. " . . . It inspired me, renewing my flagging faith in development charities.
But traveling in Malawi refreshed another belief, too: |
