A Word From Our Executive Director - February 17, 2010

Twice each year, your Executive Council convenes to address the matters pertaining to the development and progress of Advent Christian Ministries around the world. The meetings are usually held at the offices in Charlotte, North Carolina. The exception is when the Council meets in conjunction with our triennial convention. On Tuesday, February 16, 2010, the first gathering consisted of our five Regional Superintendents, ACGC’s President Brent Ross and Executive Director Ron Thomas. The primary reason for these meetings is to discuss how ACGC can best serve our regions and inform the Superintendents of the services that can compliment and assist them in addressing needs within the regions, conferences and churches. The emphasis is always on strengthening the cooperative efforts and partnerships required in order to accomplish our shared goals.

LIBERIA
I want to thank you for your prayers for the AC Church in Liberia. On January 23, 2010, I led an evangelism team to Rivercess and Bong counties where we were blessed to join our building committee who are currently constructing the New Life ACC. Thanks to God who gave us the strength to make our first missionary trip for this year to these counties.

We traveled 10 hours walking in the forest. Climbing hills and mountains was tedious, but we count it all joy for the sake of Jesus Christ. I encountered difficulties on the trip, but God often used these difficulties to grow my faith.

FROM THE ASIA/PACIFIC AREA DIRECTOR
Below is a letter from Mondo Kamar, who heads up our Agape Ministry in Papua New Guinea. Mondo and his wife, Nancy, were active in the Agape House in Fukuoka, Japan. After he finished his degree in agriculture and forestry at Kyushu University, they returned to their homeland and started an Agape ministry there. Now there are three places of worship and ministry in that country.

“Couple of months ago I visited the place (Manki Tawa village) and met couple of people and establish the contact. On the 23rd Jan.2010 Pastor Moto and myself with our families revisited the people and confirmed with them for the worship service with them on the coming Sunday (last Sunday 01/31/2010).

IF Update - February 17, 2010

While riding in a car the other day, my eyes caught a church sign that almost caused me and a friend to go off the road. The name of the church was simply, “The Dedicated Few Christian Church.” First of all, I was taken aback by such an elitist statement, as if there are only a few people in this world who could actually be called “dedicated,” while the rest of us so-called Christians just don’t make the cut no matter how hard we try. Then, it hit me. How could any believer take this view of themselves without distorting the clear teaching of the Bible, and expect that they could ever fulfill the Great Commandment or Great Commission? From my perspective, it would never happen.
